Overview

This customer was looking to outsource the inventory management and distribution elements of their service division, in order to streamline operations and retain strategic focus on the core elements of their business.  They were looking for a partner who could: 

1.   Effectively manage a large vendor base.

2.   Maintain and enhance the current service supply chain.

3.   Provide distribution and service facilities around the clock 365 days a year.

4.   Assume responsibility for the repair loop functions of their current operations.

5.   Provide a fully integrated and visible system of operation.

Solution

  • A service team was created to manage the individual supply chain elements.

  • An EDI system was developed to link all active supply chain parties.

  • Acal Supply Chain procured all inventory.

  • An inventory buffer stock was distributed throughout a UK logistics infrastructure.

  • Acal expanded its technical infrastructure to correspond with the expected increase of workshop repair traffic.

  • All of the overheads relating to inventory have been passed to Acal.

  • The risks associated with inventory including obsolescence, surplus product, supply constraints etc. became the responsibility of Acal Supply Chain.
